Known Issues

June 30th, 2009

Before you start using the site, you should know about a few of the outstanding 'features'. Rest assured, we are working to find a solution to these problems as quickly as we can.

  • The Twitter Fail Whale

As you may know from using Twitter, sometimes it goes over capacity. We have the added problem in that we are requesting large amounts of information from them.

You may find that your Friends or Followers page do not load. This is usually down to the Fail Whale and we are coding around this to decrease the likelyhood of it happening.

Hit the refresh button on your browser to reload the site if this occurs.

  • 150 per hour rate limit

This applies when you ask Twitter for lists of Friends, Followers and Updates.

If you constantly browse new friends you will use your rate limit up quite quickly.

I have added a lot of caching between the site and Twitter to save you some credits. This should allow you to browse for up to an hour, however, it creates the next problem on this list...

  • Friends and Followers numbers do not match on Twitter

This is not a bug and it happens for 2 reasons.

    1. Twitter only updates these numbers when you post an update.

    2. We cache your Twitter account by 20 minutes. This helps both speed up our website and reduce the number of calls to Twitter, helping your account get around the 150 per hour rate limit.

Don't worry too much about these numbers. Twitter is real-time and could change in the second it takes to check on both sites. We've added the option to update your Twitter stream at login so they match as closely as possible.
